About

On September 22nd, 2011, in Union Square, Somerville, Massachusetts, a ragtag group of writers, musicians, actors, and puppeteers gathered to pay tribute to one of the most beloved American authors of the 20th century.
Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt: A Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Tribute, was inspired by the variety shows of Vaudeville. Acts included award-winning authors, performance poets, folk musicians, a children’s music band, a shadow-puppet theatre troupe, a cabaret singer, and an Eastern European-influenced punk-funk group.
Each artist performed original pieces celebrating the life and work of Kurt Vonnegut Jr. The event was reverent (and irreverent) in all the right places, part rollicking homage and part Irish wake. It was a truly moving night.
